Transportation and Tourism

September 10th, 2019

Bill Sheffield Train Depot

Our third-quarter event will highlight the good work that the folks in the Transportation or Tourism industries are doing. Each week the Transportation industry is bringing in an incredible amount of goods into Anchorage via land, air and sea. All of the people it takes to make this happen, we know there are some that go above and beyond every day.

Tourism generates thousands of Anchorage jobs, brings almost $300 million in annual direct spending, $32 million every year in local tax collections, and improves quality of life for residents and visitors alike. Not only do the hard working people in this industry continue to bring people to our great state, they are always working to make this a better place to live, work and play.

At the Achievement in Business awards breakfast, we would like to recognize community members in BOTH of these industries for their hard work!

Nominations will be open from June 19th to August 5th. We will then come together as a community and recognize all the hard work from these two industries on September 10th from 7:30 - 9:00 am at the Bill Sheffield Train Depot.

Achievement in Business is all about recognizing the awesome people who live in our community — it's our way of giving the many outstanding citizens in Anchorage a well-deserved and much needed pat on the back. This event will honor the hard working business community in Anchorage and all the amazing work they are doing in their industries.

We will honor 12 people from the Anchorage business community, at each of our four events in 2019. Each event will honor a different sector within our community. Each honor recipient will receive a plaque with his/her name engraved on the front and their bio featured in a special section in the Anchorage Daily News.

This event will be a four-part series, happening each quarter in 2019. The third quarter event will be held on September 10th, 2019 at the Bill Sheffield Train Depot from 7:30 am to 9:00 am.

Networking, breakfast and awards ceremony will all be included at the event.
